ScrapFest 2011 Part 1

ScrapFest 2011! Oh my goodness. I am completely exhausted. Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday of scrapping, eating, and sleeping. I went with my good friend Pam. This was my first time attending the event-rather than working it! I got the full effect this year. It is every September at the Mall of America in Minnesota. Classes, Crops, Make and Takes, Product Demos, and Brand New Scrap Products-HEAVEN!! 15 $ bought us a ScrapFest badge into the event where they had over 30 vendor make and takes! I will post pictues this week of all of my make and takes I made! It was so exciting to play with the newest products and learn new techniques! Oh and buy exclusive products!!
Special sales in the Rotunda....Boxes and Boxes of good deals and one of a kinds!

Been playing with my new dies and paperline lately! Here is "Blissful" paper by Authentique. I also used my new nesting blossom and nesting eyelet rectangles! I made this flower using my dies and then folding between each petal. I then ran my scissors along each edge to distress. I then pinched each crease upwards so the petals curled a little. The center is a vintage snap for sewing! Thanks for looking!

Been loving this new Authentique paperline! I used my new nesting eyelet rectangle die, which I love how small the itty bitty nesting dies get! I added my vintage ribbon and button, and can't forget my latest craze, a couple of fabric yo-yos! :)

Sorry the coloring is a little off-been playing with the color saturater since the sun sort of washes out the color sometimes!

Do you ever watch that show? I can't stop watching it! Anyways, maybe my card is suggesting I watch it too much! :) Here I used a mini hanger clip and my wedding dress qk die. I used my new foam stamps to accent each corner. I used my favorite white crackle pain.

Fishies!

I had a lot of fun making this card, as soon as I got the new LC coral dies I knew they would look perfect in a fish bowl! I didn't have a template for a fish bowl so I just cut out a circle and sliced each side (more on the top than the bottom) until it looked "right". I then added a small strip to the top to hold both sides of the card together and rounded each end. My friend Pam found the fish buttons and the rocks on the bottom are crumpled up gray paper that I chalked.

For the inside, I used my new Tiki alphabet! :)

Fun with Stamping!

I have to admit. I have a ton of stamps but rarely ever use them. I tend to collect them! I thought I would pull them out and try that technique where you stamp on pattern paper to add spice to your project! This mini card below is one of my favorite...especially the inside... That mini soap is the size of a pinky fingernail! Very small!!

I found this shabby chic paper and instantly fell in love! I was inspired by Faye at CupcakeCraftChallenges blog, she made a cupcake card with the same technique I believe!

The background fabric comes in artist trading card size AND it is adhesive! I was surprised on how well the stamp showed up on it!

Hodge Podge Page

This is my attempt to create a chaotic page. It was much harder than I thought, but after adding more stamping I decided it turned out alright. My new scalloped border that I cut out with vintage book pages and threaded ribbon.

Whirlpool font is my new favorite. I added crackle glue.

Vintage metal buttons from my local antique store, "Keepers Antiques", in Faribault, MN. They are absolutely perfect for this page!

Antique stamp, a handmade crocheted flower, and a small white mini frame.

Can't get enough of my white crackle glue. Used "Celebrate" qk sayings and mini tag. I also used my coffee sleeve to matte my sayings.

This is the new Buggy Designs by Emma "Button Bear". He is absolutely adorable! He is so fun to chalk and doll up!
Hearts are from the qk flirt set. I cut them out with fabric, added glitter, roughed up the edges, and added a bow.
Button Bear came with cute "belly button" that I used for corner accendts and added embroidery floss.

Paper flower technique. Sorry it is out of order! Still trying to figure out how to put pictures in order! This flower is so fun to make-I learned this at ScrapFest. It starts with 4 same sized circles, fold them in half, layer them one on top of the other, adhesive flaps onto eachother, scrunch and fold to shape to your desire! Add a brad to the middle. Double sided paper works best!

New QK pin cushion die, complements of Scrapbuggy :), embroidered and the bow was made with ribbon and embroidery floss. Wood paper used to cut the base of the pin cusion.

Vintage buttons, new qk clothesline die, October Afternoon paper, and Enjoy font. Clothesline was run through a paper crimper a few times to give a rope look.

Wood paper used and staples bent to make the clothes pins look realistic.

Cricut used for corner accents. Qk bouquet die used. Font is "Calligraphy Collection" for the cricut.

First off, I feel so fortunate to be a designer for Scrapbuggy.com. I absolutely love it and I am so thankful for this great opportunity. I made this little bird book for my friend, using all new dies I received!!

I absolutely love this bird cage. I painted it with crackle paint called "tarnished brass". I love this effect!

This is the cut out from the birdcage...such a cool shape!

Scrapbook Garage Sale Motherload!

So today seemed pretty hectic and was not off to a good start. I was running errands with my husband and friend....nothing really fun just the man mall, working on home projects, and picking up equipment. UNTIL I spotted a sign saying "Garage Sale-Scrapbook Supplies, half off on Saturday." My husband instantly dropped me off while the garage sale was just closing up. It was fate. I went there and this guy had bought BOXES of overstock supplies from Fiskars. Everything was new and in the package and he had piles of each embellishments. EVERY SINGLE sticker sheet, chipboard packages, rubons, border stickers, flocked accents, felt button packages, etc was 30 CENTS EACH!!!! I started going crazy, they gave me a bag and I loaded up 97 different embellishment packages and it only cost me $29.10!!!!! Seriously made my day, probably my month!!! Just had to share. :)

My husband and I saw "hootie" in our backyard! A big thanks to Shar for sending me this beautiful quickutz owl cut from her collection of owl dies! I love the oak leaves from the exclusive bear quickutz die. They are so cute! I had fun creating the little ribbon pleats using my tombo adhesive and a patient eye! I stitched the two photos together using my embroidering thread and border template. I used the quickutz notebook die for journaling. I used rainbow quickutz font and doodled on the letters for an example of the Scrapbuggy July Challenge which is to get creative with your quickutz fonts on your projects! Come and participate! Just create a project using your creativity with your quickutz fonts and post your project in the message boards under "challenges and contests" and you will be automatically entered in a drawing for the month of July! These are the pink champagne cupcakes I made for the retreat for Sue's birthday (Tracey-if you are reading this...thanks for the recipe!)! I was able to finish my entire honeymoon album. I borrowed Sue's Relax quickutz set and Spicy Chicken font. Love! I also used my Archiver's exclusive coconut (cut from wood paper) and tropical leaves.

My new t-shirt from a local scrapbook store in MN.

This little guy I bought for 2 dollars at Marshalls. It's a mini vacuum! It picks up those little paper snippets when you don't want to break out the big vacuum!

"What Style, What Grace, What a Silly Face!" Thought of my friend Shar and her Grandaughter Gracie when I saw this. And of course I had to buy it because it has vintage pictures of kittens!

Now this is really cool! Apparently a little company makes these paper grided sheets and "how to" books along with it. This is to line up your mosaic pictures! Really cool...just cut your picture into 1 inch squares and the paper has faint lines so you can put them on perfectly straight..instead of eyeballing it. You can fill up the whole sheet with more than one photo..and you don't have to stick with all 1 inch squares..you can throw in some bigger size ones and surround it with little squared pictures. Giant Layout/Bulletin Board

Even though I am not a teacher, I still get to decorate bulletin boards! Talk about a large layout here! The school had their prom so I took pictures and made this using my polaroid qk diecut, damask border (halved), and Moxie Classic Font. I plan to hang this up at our health center where I work as a school nurse.

Bird Perches/Collar Buttons/Hitches

So I stopped by the local antique store to pick up more perches for my bird houses. I've been having a hard time finding the Tim Holtz hitches so I used my version. Apparently these were used as collar buttons. I found metal, shell, and wood ones! I guess that means more birdhouses! :) I also found old eyelets too!

These little buggers are from IKEA. They are pink LED lamps that clamp onto my desk. They are super bright and are bendable so I can shape them how I want!

Bryan picked up these corner round pieces, they were on super sale, just 3.99 each! I think they finish the room nicely. There are 3 on this end and 3 on the end of the other cubes.

Can you see my little helper in all of this craziness? It is still not quite finished yet. I have to pick up some more making memory jars. We called the manufacturer of these cubes to order some label metal plates to attach to my desk so everything matches. They are sending us 6 for free! Yay!! Now I need to label all of this!

Cupcakes anyone? The topper on the cube is a charging station...holding my cameras and cell phone.

I used my quickutz cartoon house for shingles and rolled up a piece of brown paper for the pirch. All paper is Basic Grey. Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!! Here is my layout for the Scrapbuggy's sketch challenge! I used my damask quickutz border die as well as my notebook quickutz die. I recently bought the new Tim Holtz paper pack "lost and found" and am loving it!!! I bought packaging string and used it to tie on the buttons and around my picture. I used my chalk to distress the edges of the paper. Vintage buttons give the perfect finishing touch! Oh and by the way...I finally printed my wedding pictures!! Haha

I scraplifted this from a magazine. This is a graduation card shaped as a hat. I cut a square black card with a black fabric brad with an old tassel attached. I attached a round strip of black paper on the bottom for the full effect. This is going to be a graduation card for my baby brother Pat who is graduating college in May!! Woo hoo!

Mother's Day trinket box!

I love decorating tins!! This was super easy to make. I cut circles and distressed them and topped it off with a handmade fanned center piece and an antique button. I plan to give this to my mom for mother's day!

Shar tagged me! So 10 things I like and 5 random things about me. So here it goes:
1. I like hot chocolate..piled high with whipped cream or mallows..usually have at least one a day.
2. I like antiques! I am fascinated by antiques an their stories behind them!
3. I like the color pink! All of our kitchen acessories are pink!
4. I like miniature things...anything small. Purses, bottles, anything mini!
5. I like high heeled shoes...so shiny, tall, and completely unfunctionable..but cute! ;)
6. I like shopping with my mom.. we always go to the mall of america!
7. I like farmers markets! The smells are intoxicating! Madison's farmers market is the best!
8. I like tanning by the pool.
9. I like cupcakes...making them..eating them...collecting cupcake ceramics..
10. I like chocolate... A LOT. I eat it every day!

1. I took belly dancing classes in college
2. I was hypnotized once..they made me think i was a backstreet boy.
3. I took dance lessons for 10 years.
4. I can't cook, i burn grilled cheeses.
5. I grew up in a house with no showers..only bathtubs..hence I only take baths. I hate showers!

I used my new little quickutz house dies. journaling tag, and zig zag edges. I used the left over vintage book pages and I chalked the edges to also give a vintage feel. I added ribbon on the side as well as on the tag.

Vintage "Hi" Card

This card was made using my new wavy edge qk dies! I layered waves on the bottom of the card as well as added a corner wavy piece. I cut a qk button out of my left over vintage book pages and added ribbon. I used my chestnut roan cat eye chalk to antique the edges. I added antique buttons and ribbon. I created the "Hi" from my foam stamps and brown paint.

Spring is in the Air!

I made this card using my new quickutz dies. I hit an amazing scrapbook sale and picked up these little cuties. I used eyelet paper for the background and purple paper to back it. I had fun dressing up my flowers with buttons and dragonfly with sparkles and patterned vellum paper. I used the moxie mini font for the "hi".

Party Favors!

Get together with the girls??? Party favors are a must! I used my flirt quickutz gift set to creat the lipstick, mirror makeup compact, flower, and name on the place card. I created the purse with my cricut. I used a reflective mirror paper to create the mirrow and accents on the lipstick. I used my Marth Stewart scallop edge punch on the place card and chalked it to match. Very easy and quick!!

Today is my baby Pinkles 3rd Birthday! I thought it was only fitting to make a cupcake card! I used the Archiver's exclusive quickutz cupcake die. I painted on the frosting and added gems. I used my martha stewart edging punch and added sparkle accents with my quickie glue pen.

Quickutz Spring Contest

This is my submission to the "Quickutz Spring Contest". I used clear acetate to cut out a cupcake liner. I cut out the egg shells from the 2x2 quickutz egg diecut. I added ribbon, pearls, flowers, grass, and chicks! I made the little chicks on the scalloped shape out of yellow mulberry paper. I also used chalk to accent my shapes. This is perfect for an Easter table setting ( yes-Mom I plan to bring these for our ham Easter dinner!)

Scrapbuggy Challenge: Black/White/1 Color

This is for a Scrapbuggy.com March Monthly Challenge: using only black, white, and one color on a layout. I had a lot of fun with this one. I used the swirl quickutz border die and moxie quickutz font. I stitched on the side, used the quicky glue pen to outline the letters with glitter, and added snippits of ribbon and pearls.

Mmmmm Chocolate!

This card was made with brown bazzil bling paper that I cut and scored to look like a hershey chocolate bar in the background. I used my chocolate drop die and some hershey kisses wrappers to make the embellishments! I also chalked around the edges of my paper squares and moonlight font.

Wood Paper

Wood paper is apparently the new thing in scrapbook stores. When I first saw the rack of half curly wood paper, I was not impressed. When I saw the paper again the wheels started turning. This wood paper is actual wood that is cut in sheets and backed with paper. It comes in different "shades" of birch, maple, etc. Sheets are sold as 12x12 and 12x6 for 2-3$. It can be put through diecut machines. It does not crack because it has backing on it. Apparently wood naturally curls so you have to use permanent glue. I liked using the new material!

Flower Pens

Flower pens inspired by Shar! I used old pages from books for the flowers. I cut out a big and a small circle, crumpled them up and chalked the creases. I attached the two circles with a brad. I then used florist green tape to tape the flower on the bottom and attach to a pen. I have never used green florist tape before and it is super easy! It comes on spool like ribbon but stretches and sticks! I used the tape to cover the entire pen. I bought decorative pearl pins and stuck them in the middle of each flower. I used my quickutz leaf die to add leaves to each flower. I attached the leaves with the florist tape.

Coffee Sleeve Brag Book

Pinkles liked watching me add chalk to my project...silly kitty!

This "peek-a-boo" door was so easy to make. I just cut out the door, slid the picture inside the sleeve, and added a brad to keep the door open.

This brag book was so much fun to make. I used coffee sleeves to create pages and bound them together with ribbon. I used the damask die, moonlight and flirt fonts, bathtub die, and heart conversation bubble die. I used borders to create fun binding and chalked around the edges of my papers.

Mushroom Card

I love mushrooms. They seem so funny to me. I stitched, stamped, chalked, and popdotted this card. Very easy. I even added an antique button. I love going to antique stores and picking up jars of buttons. They give my projects character!

Mini Monthly Reminder Book

I've been thinking about making this little monthly reminder book for awhile now. I always can't remember dates...especially birthdays! I used quickutz recipe diecut and mini moxie alphabet. I modified a clear journaling stamp to fit the recipe card. I punched a hole in all 12 cards and fastened with a brad. Very easy to make and even fits in a magpie tin!

Flower and swirl card

This card was so easy to make. I used the quickutz swirl border and matching flowers from a paper pack. On the bottom I used a rubon and edged it with some matching trim. I also chaulked the flowers to give them more depth.

Cupcake Thankyou

This thank you card was made using the cupcake diecut from the recipe set. I distressed and added chaulk to the edges. I like to use antique buttons to give my projects a vintage feel. I love going to antique stores and buying jars full of beautiful old buttons.
